Victor completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in biology at Stanford University where he also worked on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) in the Wernig Lab. Victor is a graduate student in the Lim lab and is working on understanding spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 (SCA1). His work utilizes a transgenic SCA1 mouse model which expresses mutant human ATXN1 in the Purkinje cells (PCs) of the cerebellum. He hopes that his work will further the understanding of the molecular interactions of the PCs with other cell types and better understand the cause of selective neurodegeneration. In his free time Victor is a mentor for first-generation, low-income students at Yale and is active in science outreach and communication. Victor also helps to coach the Yale club wrestling team.
